Our 2030 Flight Plan

The brand new Iberia's 2030 Flight Plan, our company’s strategy for the coming years, aims for €6 billion in investment

The 2030 Flight Plan, the new strategic plan recently presented by Iberia, provides for €6 billion of investment, enabled by an annual profitability of between 13.5 per cent and 15 per cent. “Thanks to Iberia’s profound transformation over the last decade and the efforts of all our employees, we are achieving results that allow us to look to the future with confidence,” explains Marco Sansavini, President and CEO of Iberia.

The investment will translate into growth and improvements such as an increase in the fleet, the renovation of all long-haul cabins, the creation of a new Premium lounge in Terminal 4 of Madrid airport, the addition of new international destinations and the construction of the new Ciudad Iberia in La Muñoza, which will serve as a centre for aeronautical andcorporate innovation.

Iberia also plans to hire an average of 1,000 new people per year, reaching 250,000 jobs, and to launch the Iberia Foundation to maximise the company’s positive social impact, coinciding with its centenary in 2027.

  • Long-haul fleet growth from 45 to 70 aircraft and renewal of theshort- and medium-haul fleet. Iberia plans to add more A350s and A321XLRs, and potentially also A330neos, from the recently announced order from IAG for the group’s various airlines, increasing our long-haul fleet from 45 to 70 aircraft. In addition, we will renew our short- and medium-haul fleet by replacing all older-generation aircraft with the new, more efficient and less polluting A320 and A321neo, in line with our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

  • New destinations such as Toronto, Philadelphia and Monterrey. The growth of the fleet will allow for increased flights to some of our destinations and the addition of new destinations, with plans to fly to Toronto (Canada), Philadelphia (USA) and Monterrey (Mexico), as well as the recently announced Recife and Fortaleza (Brazil) and Orlando (USA). We will continue looking for new opportunities, especially across the Atlantic.

  • Innovation and a new Premium lounge in T4 at Madrid airport. To improve service and experience, we are making significant investments in Artificial Intelligence, digitalisation, and personalisation. We also plan to renovate all long-haul cabins, making them more comfortable, giving them better connectivity, increasing carry-on baggage capacity with XL luggage compartments and adding a new additional Premium lounge in Terminal 4 of Madrid airport.

  • Construction of CiudadIberia in La Muñoza. Ciudad Iberia, which we plan to build in La Muñoza, will see an expansion of the current facilities in order for Iberia to relocate its corporate HQ there. This large space next to Madrid airport will show a major commitment to innovation and emerge as a cutting-edge aeronautical centre to rival the best in Europe.

  • One thousand new hires per year”. The forecast is to make an average of 1,000 new hires each year during the validity of the 2030 Flight Plan. This will multiply the opportunities for professionalimprovement and development for everyone in the company,” says Marco Sansavini. According to PwC estimates, this means that by 2033 we will contribute €19 billion to Spanish GDP and 250,000 direct, indirect and related jobs, meaning 42 per cent more wealth and jobs in Spain than today.

  • Creation of the Iberia Foundation. We want to create wealth and employment in all the destinations we fly to, not just in Spain. That’s why, coinciding with the airline’s centenary in 2027, we will launch the Iberia Foundation to maximise the company’s positive social impact.
