Iberia has flown the Spanish national team to the Fifa World Cup

The airline transported the Spanish National Team to the Fifa World Cup 2026 in the USA on board an A350 Next aircraft featuring special livery. In addition, Iberia prepared a surprise for the players, giving young fans the opportunity to share their support and words of encouragement with Spain’s World Cup representatives.

On 5 June, a special Iberia flight from Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport to Nashville flew the Spanish National Team to the Fifa World Cup tournament, which is taking place from 11 June to 19 July across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The team travelled on an Airbus A350 Next, one of Iberia’s most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft. To mark the occasion, the aircraft was specially branded with the slogan: ‘Despega un equipo. Vuela un país’ (‘One team takes off. A nation flies’).

During the flight, the players were delighted to receive a special video message from the children of the Dragones de Lavapiés Football Club, which was screened on board. In the video, the young fans shared their advice on how to approach the matches at the tournament. Their recommendations ranged from practical tips such as “play with your heads” and “support one another”, to heartfelt words of encouragement. Above all, they reminded the squad that “anything is possible – you’ve already come this far and you can win.” The team also received a Spanish National Team jersey signed by the children. Captain Rodrigo Hernández gratefully accepted the gift on behalf of the squad, promising that, “We’ll keep it with us until the very end.”

Iberia is an official sponsor of the Spanish National Football Team through Talent on Board, the airline’s initiative designed to promote and support Spanish talent across a wide range of fields, including sport.
